Mission of the Eisenhower Foundation

The name Dwight D. Eisenhower rings of Americanism at its best. We are reminded of a strapping Kansas youth, West Point discipline, Supreme Allied commander, D-Day, victory parades, "I Like Ike", President of the United States, and finally, "at ease" in retirement, and his final resting place in Abilene.

The Eisenhower Foundation's mission is to honor Dwight D. Eisenhower and to perpetuate his important legacy; to encourage and support educational activities relating to citizenship; and to support the non-federally funded operation of the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum (The Eisenhower Center). To accomplish this lofty mission, the Foundation continues to play a vital and increasingly active role in the Eisenhower Center's many programs and activities, including:

  • Special events, programs, and exhibits in both the Library and Museum
  • Research and travel grants to scholars from across the country
  • Awards for history project competitions for school children
  • Citizenship programs
  • Publication of a periodic newsletter: OverView
  • Exhibits related to the Eisenhower years, at other institutions.

Dwight D. Eisenhower produced an important legacy, which you can help perpetuate by joining others in the "Friends of the Eisenhower Foundation." As a "Friend" your generous, tax-deductible, annual membership will play a key role in celebrating the life of Dwight D. Eisenhower. You will help the Foundation reach new generations that never knew Eisenhower, but whose lives will be enriched by the story of the man whose character and leadership were momentous in shaping significant world events.
